Frequently Asked Questions

There is no other place in the world like The Centered Life Therapy! To get to know us a bit more, let these questions support you around a few topics you may be curious about. Let us know if you have any further questions by contacting our office!

Who do you work with?

We work with children, teens, adults, and families. While we support individuals across all stages of life, we have a special focus on empowering women—because when women feel supported, confident, and well, it creates a ripple effect that strengthens families, communities, and future generations.

What issues do you help with?

We support anxiety, burnout, emotional regulation, people-pleasing, perfectionism, life transitions, and relationship challenges. With children and families, we also focus on behavior, emotional expression, and strengthening connection at home.

How do I choose the right therapist for myself or my child?

Connection matters. You want a therapist who feels safe, understands your experiences, and can guide meaningful change. It’s okay to ask questions or start with a complimentary consultation with any of our therapists to ensure the right fit.

What happens in a therapy session?

Sessions are collaborative and tailored to your needs. For adults, this may look like conversation, reflection, and skill-building. For children, therapy may include play, creative expression, and age-appropriate tools to help them process emotions and build coping skills.

What if I (or my child) don’t know what to say?

That’s completely okay. Many people start there. We guide the process in a way that feels supportive and natural—no pressure to have the “right” words.

Will we be judged?

No. Therapy is a supportive, non-judgmental space for individuals and families to be honest, explore challenges, and grow.

How often should sessions be scheduled?

Most clients begin weekly to build consistency and momentum, then adjust as progress is made.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that things come up. If you need to cancel or reschedule, we ask for at least 24 hours’ notice. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed sessions, will be charged the full session fee. This helps us honor the time set aside for you and offer that space to others when possible.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes, we offer secure virtual therapy for teens, couples and adults.

Is online therapy effective?

Yes—virtual therapy can be highly effective, especially for anxiety, stress, and ongoing support.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Therapy is confidential, with a few legal exceptions related to safety, which we review together at the start.

How long does therapy take?

This depends on your goals. Some clients benefit from short-term support, while others choose longer-term care for deeper growth.

How will I know therapy is working?

You may notice improved emotional regulation, stronger relationships, clearer boundaries, and a greater sense of confidence and calm. For children, this may show up as improved behavior, communication, and emotional expression.

Why the focus on empowering women?

We believe that when women feel supported, confident, and emotionally well, it positively impacts their relationships, families, and communities. Supporting women is one powerful way we contribute to healthier systems overall—while still honoring and caring for every individual and family we serve.

How do I know if therapy is right for my family or me?

If you, your child, or your family are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or disconnected, therapy can help. You don’t need to be in crisis—many clients come to build tools, strengthen relationships, and feel more grounded and supported in daily life.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, The Centered Life is an in network provider with several insurance plans. Please contact us for the most updated information.

Many insurance policies also include out-of-network benefits. Clients may be able to seek a partial or full reimbursement from their insurer. Our staff can assist with this process.

Our practice values the flexibility of treatment when we don’t bill insurance providers. Mainly, we want our clients to have full control of their records.
